The Harpswell Lobster Boat Races are a 21 year tradition in our town. The event brings together lobstermen,
their families and spectators from all over the state. It draws a croud from all over the country of people that have been
here or heard about us and wanted to check it out! Our days events bring in boats of all classes from skiffs with outboard
motors to 40 foot plus lobster boats with diesel and gas powered engines. The races are enjoyed by people of all ages and
backgrounds. We are one of 9 towns all along the Maine coast that host a racing event. We take pride in the fact that
we are able to bring fishing communities together for an day. The circut is a huge event in the lives of fishermen. Locals
like Andy Johnson, Chip Johnson, Tommy Clemons, Jim Minot, Steve Johnson and Scottie Merriman and many others run their
boats up the coast to compete in the events in other towns. By hosting our own racing event we are proud to have our
home base as one of the biggest races in the circut. The race committee gets together every year so they can gather
prizes and donations as well as set up and clean up from the days events. This years committee consists of: Andy Johnson,
Sherry Johnson, Adam Griffin, Amanda Howard and Josh Postelle.
We are still in need of lots of help this year,
committee members are greatly needed please contact either Amanda (207-221-7556/207-504-6868) or Andy Johnson (207-833-5328)
